When Amber met Dove Cameron

When Amber met Dove Cameron

The day I interviewed Disney star Dove Cameron

March 22, 2014

After school, me and my mum packed our bags ready to go to glorious London!

Me and mum set off to London to go to the Park Plaza hotel, which seemed by looking at the pictures, to be very nice and a modern place to stay for the night.

It took an hour and 40 minutes to get there because me and mum went to mums favourite stop off - BlueWater shopping centre, and then we carried on to London.

When we arrived to the Park Plaza hotel, I was astonished because it was so luxurious (you should go there if you are staying in London)! We checked in at the hotel, and they gave me a little pack of stuff to do and play with. We then went to our room up the glass lift (no glass floor don't worry), we could see the restaurant below us (very good view). We went up to our rooms dropped our bags of and relaxed in our luxurious fab room. Looking out of the window was an amazing view of The London Eye and Big Ben.

We then went back downstairs in the lift to the restaurant for dinner! I had a margarita pizza with a cute bow on it, and my mum had a ham and mushroom pizza. For pudding, I had a posh chocolate sundae and my mum had a orange cheesecake! YUMMY! After tea, we went back to our room and watched TV for half an hour and after that beddy byes.

The next morning we had a refreshing shower, and I wore my new skirt with flowery patten on, we both watched TV for a bit, then went downstairs to get some breakfast. I had corn flakes and my mum had scrambled eggs on toast with baked beans.

After we checked out and got a taxi to the Soho hotel, (which was where Dove Cameron was staying for her trip to England). We went up to the 2nd floor of the hotel, to a big waiting room where there was other people getting ready to interview her too. We waited about 10/15 minutes before we went to a room where Dove was.

I am a big fan of the Disney Channel, and love to watch Liv and Maddie. Imagine my delight when I went to interview the star of the show Dove Cameron.

Dove Cameron stars in the Disney Channel show called Liv and Maddie.

It's about identical twins who have totally different personalities. Maddie is more academic, girl next door, and Liv has been living in Hollywood filming a television programme, Sing It Loud! and returns home after spending time there.

The show follows Liv and Maddie along with their family, two brothers, Joey and Parker, mum, Karen, and dad Pete, both parents work at the school.

Dove Cameron plays the twins, and has to record all the scenes twice!

She is starring in the new Disney Original Movie Cloud 9 which airs on the Disney Channel on Friday February 28 at 5.30pm.

Dove Cameron and Luke Benward star in Cloud 9

Dove Cameron and Luke Benward star in Cloud 9

Cloud 9 is set in the world of competitive snowboarding. It tells the story of two snowboarders who must overcome self-doubt to learn that achieving their dreams is possible.

Kayla Morgan (Dove) is a prima donna snowboarder who has just been dropped from her competition team. Will Cloud (Luke Benward, who plays Beau in Good Luck Charlie) is a former snowboarding champion who is struggling after a career-ending wipeout.

Don't miss it!

Dove Cameron is such a nice girl to interview. Here we go, into the interviewing! I asked her loads of questions and then had my photo taken with her, these are the questions I asked:

How did you get the part in Liv and Maddie?

It's a funny story, originally I auditioned for another Disney show called Bits & Pieces which was a completely different plot line but the same cast and I only played one girl, there were no twins involved. Her name was Alana Thickman and throughout the process of testing, I don't know if you know, they put a bunch of kids in a room and have them watch the pilot which is the first episode and have them say what they do and don't like to sort of make it fit exactly to what the fans want which is something I love so much about Disney. Throughout that we waited 9 months and finally got the call that was like "Hey your show got picked up and by the way, you're playing twins, ok bye!" it was like 'What'! I had never auditioned for Liv or Maddie so it was a kind of a crazy process but we're here and it is what it is and I couldn't be more grateful than it is what it is today.

Is it hard playing both characters in Liv and Maddie?

I think it was harder in the beginning than it is now. It was more ground work than it is like continual work, you take a long time to set up so that it flows smoothly later. It was a lot of work cos if you think about it you can watch the show and you could sit there with a journal and you can say the differences between Liv and Maddie. One is very loud and one is very quiet and one is a girly girl and one is a tom boy. But the real differences that make up a person, think of your mom, what are the little things that you know about her that no one else knows. Cameras pick up on that and so you know you think about things like the way like Maddie would hold her cup like this (Dove holds cup around the handle) cos she doesn't know , that just doesn't register with her she's holding a tea cup and Liv, she's pinky out and she knows how everything goes cos she's been on camera all her life and she's like 'oh isn't that wonderful' and it's those little things like laughs and ticks, who bites their lip that make up a character. So that was most of the work and that was mostly in the beginning.

Are you like Liv or Maddie in real life?

I wish I had an answer for this, I could never ever choose cos I'm so similar to both in so many different ways. Like Liv, I'm energetic, there's a lot of things about the world that I don't understand because I've been touring all the time that I have a very naive approach to the world. I have a lot of affection to give and sometimes I'm a little over bearing. I like to perform and so in a lot of ways it's easy to portray Liv, but then in a lot of other ways, truthfully I'm incredibly shy and I'm very awkward around boys. In my spare time, I'm usually wearing jeans and a t shirt, I wear glasses and I snort when I laugh - that's a real thing by the way, and yes I have a lot in common with both of them and I think I'd be friends with both of them too so I could never choose.

The family in Liv & Maddie

The family in Liv & Maddie

How was it living in L.A. at 14?

Crazy cos I moved there and it was a very different pace from where I was from. I was from a tiny little island which I always say is one corn field away from a horror film it was like isolated and everybody knew everybody and you go to school with the grandkids of the grandparents that your grandparents went to school with. It's like that kind of school where like nobody leaves. I grew up without a television, so when I went to LA it was sort of you know a lot to take in, but it actually suited me more than where I was from so I sort of had that home away from home feeling and LA is definitely home now.

In one word how would you describe Cloud 9?

Epic! It's got such a 360 appeal for boys and girls because it's action packed and it's sports orientated which could be for guys or girls, I'm sports oriented or on the other side, it's extremely romantic. I hesitate to say it's like the most romantic movie that Disney has ever done. It's incredibly funny. It will make you cry, it'll make you laugh. Parents will love it, kids love it, I love it. I'm very proud of it. I loved it when I saw it on paper and I love seeing it come to life. I'm really happy with how it turned out.

Did you enjoy filming Cloud 9, did you enjoy the snow?

I love the snow! I actually cannot stand the beach. I hate the beach, because I'm the colour of the snow so every time I go out in the sun I either melt or I turn the colour of your mothers scarf (mum wore a red scarf) it's like so bad. I once went out in the sun for like an hour in a pair of shorts and I had a shorts mark, I kid you not, for 10 and a half months, I could do nothing to get rid of it! I'm meant to be pale, I'll never be tanned and the snow is really romantic, I would much rather be cold wrapped up in loads of sweaters holding hands with someone drinking hot cocoa than like, you know, rubbing sand off my leg for the 3rd day in a row!

Have you ever been snowboarding before?

I actually started snowboarding when I was 7 years old so I felt very comfortable auditioning for a snowboarding movie and I thought that would give me some leg up. I was like I'm gonna beat the competition cos I can actually do all these stunts and little did I know they weren't gonna have us do any of the stunts cos of course they want their cast members to be alive while shooting. So I didn't do any of the stunts but I think if you slow it down, you can see me snowboarding in Cloud 9 for about 2.5 seconds. If you like go frame by frame by frame and you're like that is Dove's face maybe but I was grateful for those glorious 2.5 seconds.

How much do you like playing your character in the shows?

I love playing Liv and Maddie. I love playing them both and I don't think I like playing one more than the other. I find them very relatable, aspirational and inspirational. It's a very odd niche to play both inspirational and aspirational cos it's usually one or the other and I learn lots about myself through playing them, Its always a new challenge everyday. We did a new episode where each of the girls dress up as each other, and it was called Switch-A-Rooney, so I was playing one playing the other twice back to back so that was interesting, there's more of that coming. I actually hear a very interesting Halloween episode where I will be pulling off something crazy, even crazier than before, so it's always fresh and difficult on Liv and Maddie and it's something that I love very much.

Did you go to acting school?

I did not, I don't think I've ever taken an acting class, I took one acting class then I realised it wasn't for me as it's not for everyone and actually my belief on acting is the best actors and the most convincing style of acting come from people who are very observant of other people. There are 2 different styles of acting like portraying a part of yourself and then portraying someone you know in your life. So I've never been taught and I definitely don't have a method that I stick with. So I hope it's good, I don't know, no ones ever told me, acting school is good for some, it wasn't for me.

How do you like to spend your free time?

I'm really boring. I like to bake, I have different dietary needs, I have sugar free, gluten free and dairy free so I have like the worst, I am terrible when you take me out to a restaurant. I'm like 'Do you guys have anything that fits my needs' like no. So I make a lot of my own food. I make a lot of my own recipes so a lot of the things that maybe you'd like to eat I can make, I could change up the recipe to fit what I need and my boyfriend is the same and my mother too actually so I'm constantly making all kinds of different baked goods and also I sew a lot of my own clothing and I like to write my own songs so I'm a home body. In my free time I'm sleeping or running round the house like an elf.

If you could travel back in time who would you most like to meet?

Edgar Allan Poe, I think he's a brilliant poet. I was actually given a copy of his work when I was like 8 years old that was my grandfathers and I still carry it around with me. It's like this old tattered green thing that I think used to be a different colour and I have all the pages marked, I know that page 26 is Annabel Lee, I have them all memorised I love his work, I think he's brilliant.

Is this your first time in England?

This is my first time in England, yes, before this I was in Paris, it's my 3rd or 4th time in Paris but surprisingly this is my first time ever coming to England and I love it.

If you were stranded on a desert island what 3 things would you take with you?

Oh gosh, my journal to document probably my spiral into insanity, my big lifetime supply of coconut water gotta get my vitamins guys, you can't drink the water that's around you so coconut water and oh gosh I don't know, that's a difficult question cos I'm think all logistical. My big backpack full of all kinds of things since 2007, that has something in it that would help me survive.

How did you celebrate your 18th birthday?

I am actually a really shy and quiet person believe it or not and I don't like big scenes, I don't like big parties like I don't even like caffeine. I'm very sort of quiet and I like more internal celebrations and so I got my boyfriend, my sister and my mother and we all went out for a nice dinner and we went to see Disney's Frozen for the second time and then a few days later I went to Disneyland, so I guess I'm just a Disney girl living in a Disney world. And it was absolutely fantastic and it was exactly what I wanted, it was beautiful.

Where did you get your heart necklace?

I have actually been getting a heart necklace every year for my birthday since I was born and it's a little locket. It always has a different picture in it at the start of each year sort of what's going on with me at the moment. And it was a tradition that my dad started. It started where the locket was small and you couldn't fit anything in it, I still have that somewhere and it has my name on it and throughout the years it's had short little quotes that mean something for me. On the back right now it has 'Love and Light' which is something I always sign after I autograph something cos I think that's such a lovely message to leave someone with you know, love and light. Isn't that what you would wish on everyone?

How much has your life changed now you are famous?

Massively, massively! Well it depends, I have not changed at all, and it's always been my goal that if this were to happen to me, for me, that I would always try to retain the most normalcy that I possibly could. Because the real job of course is the actual job, it's the filming, it's doing the ground work, it's doing the character work and all the writing, participating in all that kind of thing. And everything that comes along with something such as fame, is not the job, it's like an accessory to the job, and so it's something you sort of have to learn to keep your wits about you. It's definitely come with a lot of upsides like all the fan interaction is wonderful and beautiful and I always love talking to fans. It's still strange to me that I even have fans! But honestly my outside life has changed, when I walk down the streets it is different, when I'm at home it's just the same, nothing is different!

What's your favourite type of music and what artist?

Ooo, I have a very eclectic iPod, it has such a wide range of artists. My favourite song of all time is Moonlight Serenade by Glenn Miller which is something I think you might not know. It's a really old song and it's really beautiful and it's followed only second by Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven. Got a thing for moonlight! I mostly like things that I can write, read, or cook to, and I won't be distracted cos all the things I do in my spare time are therapeutic for me because it's sort of my way of getting out of my brain. When I'm working I'm so in my brain and so most of my music is not lyrical. But in terms of an artist, I really love Lykke Li, she's so strange and interesting and different and she's got such a interesting vocal quality. She's sort of a jazz, baby, she's like a baby jazz, pop, R&B, folk singer, she's very hard to describe. I don't think I could put her in a category but I think she's great, I think she might be my favourite.

What would you like to be if you weren't in acting?

I actually have a plan B, I told myself that if I didn't make it anywhere by the time I was 18, that I would go to fashion school because I've been sewing mostly my own clothes since I was 7, and I've always had a huge interest in fashion. I would definitely like to have a fashion line one day.

What are your career aspirations?

I love fashion, so I would love to have a fashion line one day. I still very much wanna be on Broadway one day, if Broadway will have me. I would do anything to be on Broadway, that's where I feel most at home on a stage. Have you seen Disney's Frozen yet? Did you hear it's going to Broadway! It's going to Broadway and I'm ready to die, I would do anything to play either character, I've been covering all the songs and putting them on YouTube just because I'm like, I can't stop, I'm obsessed especially "Let it Go" by Idina Menzel, it's to die for! I love her, so yes career aspirations, fashion line, Broadway, more movies, more television for as long as anyone will let me do what I hope to do, I will be doing what I love to do.

How many hours do you rehearse during the day?

Oh, it depends, we have a very interesting schedule. Usually what we'll do is we shoot Tuesdays and Wednesdays and rehearse the next episode Thursdays and Fridays. On Thursday and Fridays we'll show up at work around 8am, and then we'll go into a room and do a table reading where we all sit round a gigantic table and we just sit with the scripts and we don't perform. We don't do hair and make up or anything and it's sort of our way to test out the funny lines on everybody else to see who laughs and who doesn't. Then we'll rehearse from like 10am until 4pm, then we'll do something called a run through where all the executives will come and will hop from one set to set to set cos it's all in one big building sort of like a play but with all different sets all over and it's like a mini performance so we'll do that for like an hour. So yes it's a good full day, we go until about 4pm.

The day I went to Rome and interviewed the cast of Disney Channel's Violetta

February 28, 2014

By Amber Jennings, age 10.

Me and mum, Adele, got up very early at 5 o'clock in the morning creeping around as to not wake my little brother and dad who was snoring his head off to drive to Heathrow airport, terminal 5 to visit Rome in Italy as I was invited to interview the cast of Disney Channel's Violetta.

It was still dark and cold when we left the house and we had to de-ice mums car because it was very frosty! When we finally arrived at the airport, the sun was beginning to rise as well.

We checked in and thankfully it was breakfast time too because I was starving, so we went to the Giraffe cafe for something scrummy to eat. I had scrambled egg on toast, (which was scrumptious!) and a sunrise smoothie with strawberry, banana and fresh orange.

After looking around the shops, it was time to catch our flight.

Once we found our seats on the British Airways flight and got comfy, about 15 mins after the flight had taken off, they started handing out food and drinks. I had a normal coke and mum had a diet coke, plus, we both had cheese and ham flatbread sandwiches.

I played Subway Surfers and Temple Run 1 on my iPod touch to keep me occupied during the flight and before I knew it we had landed in Italy. We went straight to the hotel, dropped our bags of at reception and got a taxi ride to the concert.

The Colosseum in Rome, Italy

We arrived at the concert arena and got some drinks and snacks before getting seated and then the concert began! It was introduced by an Italian speaking person so I couldn't really understand that bit, but then it was super loud music and a brilliant show.

I really enjoyed seeing all the stars from Violetta and listening to the songs from the show, my ears were buzzing for a while afterwards! We then went back to the hotel and took our bags to our beautiful classical looking room.

By this time we were both getting peckish so went to find somewhere to get PIZZA! The pizza I had was a margherita pizza, THAT WAS MASSIVE!!!!!!!!! My mum had a mushroom pizza, again it was HUGE!

With a full tummy, we went straight back to the hotel to get into our pj's on. We watched a bit of TV, the channel was CNN (which was American), me and mum sorted out some stuff for tomorrow, and then SLEEPY TIME!

The next morning, we got up out of bed and got dressed. After we got dressed we went straight down for breakfast. I had red orange juice, a granola mix cereal and a peach and apricot yoghurt, with bits of peach and apricot in too. We went back to our room after, and brushed our teeth and hair and went down to the cafe to get a drink of coke, to get ready for the INTERVIEWS!!!

So we got a taxi to the interviews, and there were already lots of fans waiting outside because their tour bus was parked outside! The place we went in is a another hotel, it was very posh and modern.

We were taken to a waiting area and waited 20 mins before we could interview them. I went to interview Violetta (Martina) and Leon (Jorge, pronounced horrhey) Jorge spoke English! I interviewed six of the cast from Violetta, including: Violetta played by Martina Stoessel, Leon played by Jorge Blanco, Francesca played by Lodovica Comello, Federico played by Ruggero Pasquarelli, Maxi played by Facundo Gambandé and Diego played by Diego Dominguez.

Amber with Martina and Leon

Here are the questions I asked and the fab answers they gave..

How did you get the part in Violetta?

Martina: 'It's a very long story! My father went to present a project at the Disney Channel and he asked if I would like to record the songs for this project. Which was not Violetta. I hadn't done anything on TV before, so of course I wanted to do it. He went and presented his project and they asked who is this girl who's singing the songs at the end. I had just turned 14 at the time. My father said this is my daughter. They had been looking for a main character and they had seen so many girls and couldn't find the right one. The asked.. would your daughter like to come and do a casting and I said of course! I danced and sang for them and had lots of auditions and then in the end that's how it all started for Violetta.'

Jorge: 'My case is different as I have now being working with Disney since 6 years ago, so this project is the first time they called me for an audition. They called me and said there's a possibility I would make this part. And I was like yeh I'm interested. They kept giving me information and one day they told me yes you're in and it was exciting, I was like wow, it was the first time they called me so it was fun.'

Ruggero: 'I received the call from Mickey Mouse asking if I'd like to participate in Violetta. It's a big adventure, huge opportunity, I went to Argentina and then my adventure began.'

Lodovica: 'I was studying in a normal academy in Milan, singing and dancing and one day the general manager of the academy called me and in 3 days some people arrived for a casting of girls for a secret project. I participated in the casting and after a week they chose me and I had to go to Buenos Aires and in 2 months with my luggage I went to Argentina.'

Amber with Lodovica and Ruggero

Amber with Lodovica and Ruggero

Facundo: 'Through a casting. It was a long casting, about 5 months long, I had to do everything, dance and sing, and it was a surprise because only 6 months later I heard that I was selected I didn't know the title of Violetta and where I was going to act or what my character was.'

Diego: 'It was different for me, I was in Madrid. It came as a surprise while I was struggling with different minor projects and I cried over the phone to my mother when I found out because she knew how important it was to me.'

Did you go to acting school?

Martina: 'Yes, I went for 3 years and did acting, I did singing and dancing. I didn't go to full-time acting school, it was at the weekend.'

Jorge: 'No, until I started working so that was my acting school.'

Ruggero: 'Yes, I spent six years in an acting school, I was a shy person and thanks to acting I developed myself, singing and guitar and now we are here.'

Lodovica: 'Me, guitar, 8 years, composition then singing and acting, it's quite important to attend acting schools.'

Facundo: 'I started with dance classes in a school and then moved onto acting and also singing lessons.'

Diego: 'I started when I was 13 and I took acting classes and since then I have always studied.'

How many hours do you rehearse during the day?

Martina: 'We did 2 months of rehearsing Monday to Friday, 6 hours a day for our European tour.'

Jorge: 'Before starting the tour we had 2 months of rehearsals everyday from Monday to Friday 6 hours a day, it was tough but it's worth it now.'

Amber with Facundo and Diego

Amber with Facundo and Diego

How is it being on tour, is it tiring?

Martina: 'Yes it's very tiring, but we try to enjoy it. You miss your home, bed and family and it's unique. Enjoy it.'

Jorge: 'Sometimes it's hard to get up early like everyone knows. It's like when you have to get up for school. It's what we love to do and people and our fans are our inspiration and that makes us forget feeling tired and all that and we try to have fun with our partners on stage, everyone's crazy so we never get bored.'

Are you like your character in real life?

Martina: 'The relationship with music and singing and dancing, that's what we have in common.'

Jorge: 'Me as well.'

Ruggero: 'I am Federico and my character is like me, I try to find girls, play guitar and singing. I like to be with friends and people and I'm friendly person and Federico is an easy character.'

Lodovica: 'I'm Francesca and yes we have similarities. We like music, like to be with friends, we're romantic, have dreams and like to be at peace with the world trying to find an equilibrium between villains and good people.'

Diego: 'My character really corresponds to my way of being, I tries to be in line with the essence, but of course I have to exaggerate as this is what is required. The tone, the character is slightly over the top.'

Facundo: 'Of course characters do follow stereotypes and this is like this too, in the series you have lots of ups and downs and conflicts so Maxi is of course a very normal and real character which I do have to exaggerate again slightly but in different ways. For the theatre and the film industry slightly more and for the TV you have to try to be more in line with everyday life.'

How much time do you spend recording the show?

Jorge: 'Each season is 8 months per season, it's a lot of time.'

What's your favourite type of music and artist?

Martina: 'Beyonce, she is my favourite singer.'

Jorge: 'I like a lot of types of music but especially rock and pop and my favourite artists are Bruno Mars, Justin Timberlake and Maroon 5.'

Ruggero: 'I like pop music, but my artists at the moment are Bruno Mars, One Direction, Justin Bieber, they have my image so I'm trying to get from interviews what they feel, since they are my same age.'

Lodovica: 'I like pop but I also like rock and roll, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, my family are rock fans, I also like Joss Stone, I like warm voices.'

Facundo: 'I doesn't have a specific type of style I prefer. I like to listen to music and dance music, each type of music transmits something, brings something alive, of course there's different moments, when I want to relax I'll listen to calm music, if I want to dance, I listens to more rhythmic music.'

Diego: 'Music for me is getting away, whenever there is a musical sound that's fine with me.'

vio1.JPG

If you could travel back in time, who would you most like to meet?

Martina: 'Michael Jackson or Whitney Houston.'

Jorge: 'Nice question.. being a fan of rock music, Elvis Presley.'

Ruggero: 'I would like to meet Michael Jackson the King of Pop, I wish I could.'

Lodovica: 'I have 2 options, I would like to go back in time to meet Marylin Monroe. Marylin Monroe was the first star and just that period and the development of cinema and television, I would like to see her in that period and that atmosphere. And then I would like to participate in Queen's concert.'

Facundo: 'Marlon Brando.'

Diego: 'I would have liked to have met Charlie Chaplin.'

vio16.JPG

Are you studying at the moment?

Martina: 'I am still going to high school so I'm studying everything, I haven't finished yet as I'm still 16.'

Jorge: 'Well me, I'm done with school and well, college, it's like I have no time right now but maybe sometime I'd like to study music production, I'd like to add something more to my career.'

Ruggero: 'The script of Violetta! Me and Lodovica have both finished school at the moment but what we are doing is a sort of school we are singing, dancing, it's our private school.'

Lodovica: 'Yes I agree with Ruggero. What we are doing it takes a lot of time so it's our life, it's all day long so we couldn't do other things but one day when we finish we may attend school again.'

Have you been to England?

Martina and Jorge: 'No, but we'd like to visit soon.'

Ruggero: 'Yes, I like London, I like everything about London, I would like to live in London.'

Lodovica: 'Me too, I spent 4 days in London and that was sufficient to fall in love with it and I'd like to go back.'

Facundo: 'Just recently, I have been to London for the first time. I just loved London Just before coming to Rome I was in London.'

Diego: 'I haven't been yet but I'm dying to go to London and would like to meet the actor, Colin Firth.'

vio17.JPG

What do you get up to when you're not recording shows?

Martina: 'I spend time with my family and talk on the phone with my friends, I do what normal people do.'

Jorge: 'Me too, I like hanging out with my friends and I like sports, soccer or basketball, I'm very active so I'm always doing something as I get bored resting too much.'

Facundo: 'I love eating in good restaurants, spending time with friends, he likes to spend time with his dog, and he's missing his dog a lot. Listening to music and relaxing.

Diego: Likes to relax, he likes to spend one day at home relaxing, just one day because he likes to do sport and go to the movies.

In one word how would you describe the show?

Ruggero: Magic.

Lodovica: Amazing.

Facundo: Incredible.

Diego: Spectacular.

How much has your life changed now you're famous?

Facundo: Completely, is changed a lot, dramatically. Now he walks into the street and people recognises him, it makes his life completely different, he can not go after a show maybe at the end of a long day and he's tired and he'd like to have a bite and the restaurant is full of fans then of course it has completely changed. He does understand that there are fans and it has changed in that sense.

Diego: Completely, he left his country, his family, his school mates, and so now this has been an additional change and he would like to go back to his family and his roots.

I had a fantastic time in Rome, and it was great to interview the cast. A big thanks to Disney for inviting me.

My spooky Halloween make-up!

My spooky Halloween make-up!

Halloween school disco

October 30, 2013

I went to my Halloween school disco last Friday. I was really looking forward to it as I'm in year 5 so I can go to the later one now!

My dad did some pretty cool scary make-up on me! I tried to scare my little brother Jacob with my scary face but he just giggled.

I had a bright white face with dark eyes, a red line with smaller black lines across my mouth so it looked like my mouth was stitched up!

I had a fantastic time at the disco with my friends, one of them was dressed up like a ghost, she had white shiny stuff on her face.

There were lots of ghosts, vampires, and all sorts. My dads friend who was going to pick me up afterwards saw a picture of me on facebook and said he was too frightened to pick me up! I even had some money left over from the tuck shop, which always makes mum and dad very happy.

Rocking the geek chic glasses look

October 8, 2013

I went to get some new glasses on Monday. They are sooo cool!

I went with the geek chic glasses this time because u know, I'm getting older now. Geek chic is in fashion right now so yeah!

I love them soooooo much! They are black square glasses with purple in the inside bit. The company who did these were Roxy. It says Roxy on the side. I bought them from Specsavers.

Amber's old glasses, they're so last year!

Deadly 60 at Longleat Safari Park

March 28, 2013

By Amber Jennings, age 9

At Longleat, when we first arrived me and my mum went to a stadium type place called the 'Hunters of the Sky'. We met some beautiful owls and big birds of prey. Then there were lots of people taking photos of Steve Backshall from CBBC's Deadly 60, so I took loads of photos too! I was even lucky enough to speak to Steve and he showed me a Bald Eagle call Imber!

Afterwards, me and my mum went to explore Longleat. First stop, we went into the small rainbow lorikeet cage. One just came by and flew onto my shoulder! They drink nectar direct your hand.

Second stop, was the jungle kingdom where we saw lots of animals including a Red Panda, some Otters and Meerkats, one of which tried to escape!

Then we went into the butterfly house and the butterflies were flying everywhere one landed on my mums red bag! I saw one which was much bigger than the rest called a Blue Morpho which was quite impressive!

After that I had a play at the adventure castle where you have to be at a certain height to enter. There was either a monkey, tiger or a rhino, to gauge what size you were. I was a tiger.

Next was the batcave! There were bats flying everywhere, the thing that me and my mum didn't like about the batcave was that they weren't in a cage and they flew past our heads!

Me and my mum went to Longleat house and people believed that there was a ghost that lived there called the grey lady. The house belongs to lord Bath.

The best part of the day was going on a Deadly 60 safari tour with Steve Backshall how cool is that! We saw some cheetahs, lions, cubs and tigers.

The last thing before I went home was the jungle cruise there were loads of sea lions we had a chance to feed them! We saw gorillas, pelicans on their cove and 2 hippos.

I had such a fantastic day.
